KiiiKiii named Gangnam-gu ambassador ahead of August 10 comeback with 'WhyKiiiKiii'

KiiiKiii — Jiyu, Isol, Sui, Haeun, and Kiya — got their official appointment as promotional ambassadors for Seoul's Gangnam-gu district on July 24. They showed up at Gangnam-gu Office to collect their appointment certificates.

For the next two years, they'll participate in major district events and create promotional content around Gangnam-gu's culture, tourism, and policy for domestic and international audiences. The appointment comes just two weeks before WhyKiiiKiii hits on August 10.

"It is truly an honor to take on the role of promotional ambassador for Gangnam-gu, the center of Seoul and K-culture," the group said. They thanked their official fan club TiiiKiii and everyone supporting their music, then pivoted straight to the album: "In August I will meet you with newer and more KiiiKiii-like music, so I ask for your anticipation."

The timing slots into a sprint that started in March last year. Their debut track I DO ME hit No. 1 on terrestrial music broadcasts. They wrapped their first year with 7 rookie awards across major ceremonies—13 trophies total.

January's Delulu Pack pushed harder. Title track 404 (New Era) topped music charts and gave them their first monthly chart No. 1 after debut. The album spent 8 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Global 200. They also topped the idol group brand reputation rankings, held their first fan concert in May, and performed at Head in the Clouds Music and Art Festival in both Tokyo and LA.
