Kim Nam-gil makes official music debut with single '너에게 가고 있어', film and drama projects lined up

Kim Nam-gil became a recording artist on July 24, 2026, when 너에게 가고 있어 dropped across music platforms at noon KST.

The rock-sound collaboration with Rocoberry had already been performed live. March 28 at KBS Arena in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, during his 2026 fan meeting G.I.L—he took the stage with a full band. A month later he brought it to Japan, playing fan meetings in Osaka and Tokyo and performing a Japanese-language version at both stops.

This music debut sits alongside a packed year. 몽유도원도 (Mongyudowondo) is in post-production, targeting a 2026 release, with Kim Nam-gil playing Suyang Daegun. He's also confirmed for the upcoming SBS drama 악몽 (Nightmare).

His theatrical footprint is substantial. Cumulative audience across his films: roughly 27.8 million. 해적: 바다로 간 산적 drew approximately 8.66 million viewers. 판도라 pulled 4.58 million. 살인자의 기억법 reached 2.66 million. 미인도 landed 2.34 million.

Kim Nam-gil debuted in the 1999 KBS 2TV drama 학교. In 2003 he passed the MBC 31st public talent audition as the top candidate. He worked under the stage name Lee Han before switching to his real name after the 2008 film 강철중: 공공의 적 1-1. Off-screen, he founded and leads cultural arts NGO Gilstory. (He's said: "I want to be a good person and fulfill social responsibility.")

He wrote to fans: "Thank you to everyone who has walked alongside KB Deputy Director Kim Young-jin. The journey isn't over yet—please stay with me until the end."
