Lauren Bennett, a former member of Paradiso Girls and G.R.L., has died at 37. Natasha Slayton, Emeline Estrada, and Paula Van Oppen announced the news on July 6 through a joint statement posted on their account. No cause of death was disclosed.
In the statement, the three said "our hearts are broken" and that they could not "express in words how precious he was to us." They added that they would "forever cherish the love and laughter he left us and countless memories" and that "his beautiful soul touched many people's lives."
Bennett began her career as a member of Paradiso Girls, the group formed by Robin Antin, founder of the Pussycat Dolls. The group's 2009 debut single Patron Tequila, featuring Eve and Lil Jon, reached number 3 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.
After Paradiso Girls disbanded, Bennett joined G.R.L. The group appeared on Pitbull's 2014 hit Wild Wild Love and released a self-titled EP that same year. Ugly Heart, a track from that EP, charted in the top 20 in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Bennett also featured on LMFAO's 2011 global hit Party Rock Anthem. (That track alone introduced her to audiences far outside the girl-group circuit.)
