Super Junior-83z debut unit drops first mini album 'Promise' on July 13

Super Junior-83z pairs Lee Teuk and Hee-chul, both born in 1983, for their first mini album 너를 위한 약속 (Promise). The release lands July 13 across music platforms, with the title track MV dropping simultaneously on the YouTube SMTOWN channel.

They debuted together as Super Junior in 2005. This marks the first time they've operated as a dedicated unit. Six tracks total. Promise draws from 1990s–2000s band sounds—sincere Korean lyrics in their signature confessional style paired with powerful vocals.

The solo cuts let each member breathe. Lee Teuk's Bad Name is R&B pop with a signature bass line and brass, using a love story as metaphor for breaking free from false emotions and overcoming personal trauma. Hee-chul's 고독남 (GODOGNAM) swings the other way. An upbeat, hook-heavy track about a man who loved solitude getting blindsided by love.

The MV unfolds aboard a fictional "83 bus" following two childhood friends reuniting after years apart. Lee Teuk and Hee-chul pitched the concept directly and worked through different acting approaches scene by scene on set. Shin Dong, a fellow Super Junior member, directed alongside the Walalala Studio team.
