Actor Yoon Kyung-ho made good on a 13-hour silent vow on July 13, signing letters for roughly 200 fans at SBS Mokdong without speaking a word.

Yoon Kyung-ho went silent for 13 hours on July 13. Then he signed letters for 200 fans without uttering a single word.
The pledge started at a production press conference for SBS Friday-Saturday drama Kim Bu-jang. Yoon promised 13 hours of silence if the show hit 13% nationwide viewership—a number tied to co-star So Ji-seop's return to SBS after 13 years. The drama opened June 26 at 9.5%. Episode 2 jumped to 15.7%, clearing the threshold and triggering the vow. From there: 18.8% in episode 3, 21.6% in episode 4, 20.5% in episode 5, and a series-high 22.3% in episode 6.
Yoon started at 7 AM on July 13. He'd sworn beforehand to stay quiet everywhere—bathrooms, showers, anywhere cameras couldn't reach. The hardest part came during a live appearance on SBS Power FM's 2 O'Clock Escape Cultwo Show. A rule added 5 minutes to his vow every time he spoke. He accumulated 20 extra minutes. He communicated by whiteboard instead, writing "I only have 13 chances to write" and "I am very sorry that I cannot have a conversation."
After the broadcast, he held the fan signing in the SBS Mokdong lobby with roughly 200 attendees. He wrote personal letters to each fan instead of speaking. The vow ended at 8:20 PM. "Because I couldn't speak, my thoughts were heard as words to me," he said afterward. "Even though I didn't speak, the sound inside me was very loud."
Host Yoo Jae-pil posted about the event on July 14: "Although he could not speak, his sincerity came through clearly as he carefully wrote letters to each person one by one."
