Karina goes gyaru in mystery SNS video as aespa rides Japan comeback wave
Karina posted a gyaru-styled challenge clip on July 31 with no explanation, days after aespa dropped their first Japanese mini album 'KISS N TELL' on July 24.
Karina dropped a short video on aespa's official SNS on July 31. No caption. Just a heart emoticon. It's getting traction.
The clip was filmed at an amusement park. She runs through a challenge sequence: hands clasped together, hand hearts, an 'eorheung' tiger pose, a phone-call gesture. The styling is full gyaru—sleeveless top, heavy contour makeup, side full bangs, artificial nails, stacked bracelets. Zero context.
The post lands less than a week after she performed at Waterbomb Seoul 2026 on July 25. It comes a week after aespa released KISS N TELL on July 24, their first Japanese mini album and first Japanese activity in approximately two years.
(A cryptic SNS drop right after a Japan release and a major festival set is doing a lot of work on its own.)
For MYs tracking the group's Japan push, KISS N TELL marks a return to that market after the two-year gap. Karina's gyaru video hasn't been tied to any specific project yet. That's why everyone's watching.
