Nonsan Strawberry National Singing Competition set for Oct. 24 with ₩2M grand prize
Nonsan's first strawberry-themed singing competition launches Oct. 24 at Citizens Park. Open to all Korean nationals across five award categories.
The 1st Nonsan Strawberry National Singing Competition happens October 24 at Nonsan Citizens Park, run by the Nonsan Local Singers Association (president Shim Woo-kyung).
It's part of the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo. Any Korean citizen who loves popular music can enter — no other eligibility restrictions.
Preliminary auditions are October 10. Finalists move to the main event on the 24th. Five award categories will be announced at the finals. The grand prize is ₩2,000,000 and a trophy. Gold gets ₩1,000,000, silver ₩500,000, bronze ₩300,000, and the popularity prize ₩200,000. Each comes with a trophy.
The Korean Artists Association Nonsan Branch and the Korean Songwriters Association Chungcheong Division are supporting the competition.
Shim Woo-kyung called it "a meaningful occasion where you can enjoy the charm of sweet Nonsan strawberries and wonderful popular songs presented by hidden talented singers in one place." He added the association looks forward to "passionate challenges from many talented singers across the country."
