Shin Seung-tae sweeps KBS2 Immortal Songs Trot Festival Part 1 with 4 straight wins
Gangwon Province rep Shin Seung-tae swept Part 1 of KBS2's '전국 트롯 대축제' on Aug. 29, defeating Jin Sung, Park Hyun-bin, and three others for the episode title.
Shin Seung-tae walked out of KBS2's Immortal Songs '전국 트롯 대축제' Part 1 special on August 29 with four consecutive wins and the episode championship.
Representing Gangwon Province, Shin chose Han O Baek Nyeon—a traditional Gangwon folk song—to anchor his run. He'd flagged Taeyeon and Jin Sung's team as the matchup he least wanted in a pre-show interview. Then he beat Jin Sung anyway. Park Hyun-bin fell next. Then Yuji Yu. Kim Yong-bin. Finally Yoon Su-hyeon and Shin Jang-mi in succession. Four wins. Done.
Yang Ji-eun expressed open admiration during the performance. Kim Yong-bin said it felt like watching a musical. Shin Sung called it "possessed-like," praising Shin's depth of expression on stage.
Shin has been a Sokcho promotional ambassador for six years, and the folk song choice read as a direct nod to that hometown connection. (The trot scene's regional rep format was built for exactly this.)
Shin released the new track Ibyeon on June 15 and has kept his activity going since.
