A promise kept, three years later
82MAJOR claimed their first music broadcast win on the September 9 episode of Show Champion (MBC M / MBC every1), taking the top spot with Like Fire, the title track from their second single HEAT. The group—Nam Seong-mo, Park Seok-jun, Yun Ye-chan, Jo Seong-il, Hwang Seong-bin, and Kim Do-gyun—debuted in October 2023.
For Nam Seong-mo, the win meant something more. He used to host Show Champion. During his final episode behind the desk, he promised the audience he'd return to accept a trophy. September 9 was that day.
"I always only gave out trophies, but to receive one like this — I'm truly grateful to the Etitude fans. It's all thanks to the Etis, and I love them."
Leader Jo Seong-il spoke to the label and fandom in his acceptance remarks: "Finally receiving an award on a music broadcast — I'm truly grateful. Thank you to the Etitude for waiting for us. We will repay you with better music and stages."
Eight days, one trophy
HEAT arrived September 1. By the Show Champion win, the album had moved 150,000 copies and hit No. 1 on the Hanteo Chart daily rankings. Like Fire also topped Bugs' real-time chart—their first time at that peak since debut—and charted high on both the global iTunes chart and China's Wanyi Music chart.
The same broadcast marked the television debut of B-side 오늘 어때 (wyd?).
82MAJOR will keep pushing Like Fire across music broadcasts and through online and offline content.
