BTOB's Lee Chang-seop posted a self-reflection on fan platform From on Sept. 22, admitting he'd become desensitized to overly stimulating content.
BTOB's Lee Chang-seop went public with a candid self-critique on September 22. Writing on fan communication platform From, he said he'd crossed his own limits without noticing.
"I discovered myself becoming obsessed"
"People seem to have an appropriate line, but lately while doing schedules, I'm crossing it without realizing it," he wrote. The post appears to be a response to remarks he made during a recent appearance on 영업중 (Yeong-eop-jung), a web entertainment show on YouTube channel 십이층 (Sipichung).
He described a spiral of pressure that built up over time:
"I need to do better. It needs to be more fun. It needs to be more memorable. At some point I discovered myself becoming obsessed with this. I had become numb to overly stimulating things. It's truly difficult."
Lee debuted with BTOB in 2012 and has since worked as a solo artist and broadcaster alongside group activities. He recently put out his third mini album, 리;메이크(사랑의 조각들) (Re;Make (Pieces of Love)).
Back to basics
"It's not easy, but let me return to my original intention," he added. "I need to reflect on my overly stimulating self, reflect on my words and actions, reflect on my expressions, and become an appropriate person again."
(Three mini albums in and he's already doing the public reset—that's a lot of self-awareness to put on a fan platform.)
