Yook Sung-jae reveals audition staff dismissed BTOB — then cast him anyway
On SBS's '거장항준', Yook Sung-jae and Park Min-young traded audition war stories—a staffer who'd blanked on BTOB, a prop swap that salvaged a scene.

"BTOB? Never heard of them"
Yook Sung-jae showed up on SBS's 거장항준 on November 5 with a story about an audition that almost didn't happen. He was reading for 후아유-학교 2015 while BTOB kept him slammed. Acting wasn't even supposed to be in the picture. Then a staff member in the room decided to make that clear.
"BTOB? I've never even heard of them," the staffer said. Yook bit his tongue for exactly as long as he could. "Still, I don't think you should speak to someone who prepared this hard in that way." He left. His face was red.
The character he was auditioning for had anger management disorder. The real anger he walked in with turned out to be exactly what the director was looking for. He got the part.
The prop swap that made the scene
That famous anger management disorder scene from 학교 2015 almost played out completely differently. The script had the character losing it on a bicycle. Except the actor couldn't ride a motorcycle, and then a PPL product showed up at just the right time. So they switched props.
Yook wasn't convinced on set. "Is this right? It seems a bit strange." The director and crew had no doubts. The scene became the one people still talk about.
Park Min-young's five-round gauntlet
Park Min-young came on the same episode and talked about auditioning for her debut in 거침없이 하이킥. Five rounds. The director sat in on every single one. She was competing against basically every female rookie actress in the country at that moment.
Getting through the rounds was hard. Staying on set was harder. She had to work opposite Na Moon-hee and Lee Soon-jae with zero NGs. For someone just starting out, the pressure was real.
Cheer the story
