IU's first new music in a year comes with a dedication
IU released the digital single 이 별로부터 on September 10. Her first new song in a year, following 바이, 썸머 in September 2025. One of the tracks is titled "Dear my crazy soulmate," written exclusively for actress Yoo In-na.
On September 15, IU posted multiple photos with Yoo In-na to her official Instagram. The captions read "Dear my crazy soulmate" and "Sure YOO IN NA we best soulmate." The photos span 16 years of the two together.
The lyrics make the dedication concrete. IU wrote: "You confess your strangeness today and disappoint, but in front of me you can be strange forever, that's why I like you more" and "when you laugh watching me joke around, that's when I like you the most." The song closes on an image of the two growing old side by side — "My dream is for us to become strange gramma together."
16 years, 11 years apart in age, one song
IU and Yoo In-na first met on the SBS variety program 영웅호걸 in 2010. Three years later they played sisters in the drama 최고다 이순신 (2013). The friendship has held across an 11-year age gap.
이 별로부터 is also confirmed as a track on IU's upcoming 6th full-length album. Release date hasn't been announced yet.
