"Almost addiction level" — Kim Hyun-joo on knitting as a coping mechanism

Kim Hyun-joo sat down with Yoo In-na on September 23 for a video on the 유인라디오 YouTube channel. The title: 찾았다 내 낙원 | 귀하신 분이 귀한 곳에 | 김현주. They talked loneliness, handcraft obsessions, and her type — she didn't hold back.

On knitting: "I feel lonely a lot. That's why I do knitting. It's effective. My thoughts disappear. I do it all day long — it's addiction level." She knits on set between takes. New hobbies? Not happening. Knitting has taken over entirely. She also does pottery and is working through guitar, violin, and drums. "I mostly like doing things with my hands," she said.

She keeps her phone at arm's length — literally

Kim Hyun-joo, 49 (born 1977), lives low-contact. She texts instead of calls. Small circle. When she's home, her phone stays across the room. Hard to reach. She's fine with that.

On falling in love: "I tend to observe for a long time. I just feel 'that's a pretty person,' but there's no spark. I think I have to know the whole person to like them." She rarely falls at first sight. When Yoo In-na pushed her to pick between two types of men, Kim couldn't choose — but both women eventually landed on 에겐남, the affectionate, attentive type.

Yoo In-na opened by saying she'd been a fan since her student days. "The most amazing encounter of my life," she called it. Kim matched that energy: "I came because of Yoo In-na. It's a promotional appearance, but I wanted to go on 유인라디오. I was curious why it's always so fresh."

Two projects land in October

Kim Hyun-joo made her official debut in 1996 in singer Kim Hyun-chul's music video 일생을. Full acting came in 1997 with the MBC drama 내가 사는 이유. Nearly three decades later, two projects hit this fall back to back.

The tvN Saturday-Sunday drama 100일의 거짓말 premieres October 10. The film 실낙원 (director Yeon Sang-ho) opens October 21.
