IU drops digital single 'Unknown Planet' Sept 10 amid 6th album and concert postponement

'Unknown Planet' lands September 10 while the full album waits

IU has a digital single coming September 10, 2026. It's a stopgap release while her 6th studio album and concert tour stay on hold. The teaser video closes on the subtitle Destination : UNKNOWN PLANET, which is all the concept detail fans have for now.

The single arrives because the bigger plans fell through. IU had announced a September concert and her regular 6th album before worsening Eustachian tube dysfunction forced both postponements. In July she addressed it directly: "My chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction symptoms have been worsening recently... I think I may have pushed myself too hard with work over the past few years without considering my condition."

The album delay is tied to how the record was built. IU explained that the 6th album's main promotion was always concert and tour-based, making it inseparable from the live schedule. When the tour moved, the album had to move with it. Her agency added that the symptoms "do not significantly interfere with daily life" and that the decision was made to ensure she could perform at her best for fans.

IU told Uaena: "Since it's been delayed, I'll organize the parts that can be refined and definitely return with better results... so I hope you won't be too sad."

Two concert films hit CGV before the single drops

While the album timeline stays open, two concert film rereleases are already scheduled at CGV. September 9 brings back IU Concert: The Golden Hour. September 16 reopens IU Concert: The Winning, also available in special theater format. The digital single lands right between those two dates.
