LG Electronics built a 5-member girl group to sell a washing machine — and their song hit #1 on Instagram

LG Electronics formed a real five-member girl group — not a virtual one — to market its AI Wash Combo all-in-one washer-dryer.

AI-DOL (에이아이돌) has five members: 이연 (Iyeon), 모아 (Moa), 성현 (Seonghyeon), 희재 (Huijae), and 수아 (Sua). Each represents a product feature. All-in-one large capacity. AI time detection. AI wash & dry. Flat design. Mini wash.

LG teased the group by posting member images on digital screens across Seoul—Gangnam Station, Samsung Station, Gwanghwamun, Namdaemun, and Myeongdong—and on social media before revealing AI-DOL's full identity on August 28. Their debut single I WASH dropped August 30, complete with product name and laundry-themed lyrics like "wash and spin."

Online, I WASH ranked first on Instagram's trending audio chart. The choreography video hit fourth on the Reels popularity ranking. Celebrity 최예나 (Choi Ye-na) and choreographer 효진초이 (Hyojin Choi) both joined the I WASH dance challenge.

Member Moa is a former trainee who appeared on HYBE and JTBC's 2023 survival program R U Next?, competing for an actual girl group debut. (The irony of landing a group debut via a home appliance brand is not lost.)

AI-DOL's run is scheduled through the end of September 2026.
