Paris, the Day the Green Shines: BIFF premiere set, Korea release October 14

Paris, the Day the Green Shines has a teaser trailer and a Korean release date: October 14, exclusively at Lotte Cinema.

The film premieres domestically at the 31st Busan International Film Festival, selected for the 'Japanese Animation Special: Masterpieces of Madness, Anticipated Works 12+1' program. Director Shinomiya Yoshitoshi will visit Korea during the festival to meet audiences. Japan saw it in March.

Before that, the festival circuit already took notice. It earned a Golden Bear nomination at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival's competition section. At Annecy, it won the Jury Prize in the competition section.

Shinomiya is an animator who worked on Makoto Shinkai's Your Name and The Garden of Words. This is his first feature as writer-director.

Keitaro is trying to complete a fantastical firework called 'Shuhari' left by his father. Childhood friends Kaoru and Sentaro have returned to their hometown, and the three share one last summer together. The teaser centers on that 'Shuhari' premise and the film's visual style.

Hagiwara Riku, known for the drama Beautiful Him and the film A Love Like a Bouquet, voices Keitaro. Furukawa Kotone, who drew international attention through Hamaguchi Ryusuke's Accident and Imagination, voices Kaoru. Irino Miyu — familiar to Korean audiences as Haku in Spirited Away — voices Keitaro's older brother Sentaro.

(Three festival-circuit credits before it even hits Korean theaters is not a bad hand to play.)
