Miyeon steps into her biggest acting role yet
(G)I-DLE main vocalist Miyeon has been cast as a lead in Cheongdam International High School: Royal Camp, a spin-off thriller from Waynot Media. The announcement came on October 6, 2026, with a target release date of 2027. Filming is already underway.
Miyeon plays Cha Se-mi. She's the reigning "queen" of Cheongdam International High School and the central antagonist to protagonist Mun Ji-won. The drama follows students competing fiercely at a special camp designed to select transfer students for the elite school. Hong Ye-ji plays Mun Ji-won, a determined student who enters Royal Camp after losing everything overnight. The two characters are set up in direct opposition.
CIX's Hyun-seok rounds out the cast as chaebol heir So I-jun. Actor Kim Min-gi plays Seo Dong-hwa, Mun Ji-won's childhood friend and former national tennis representative. Writer O Je-ra penned the script. Director Park Bong-seop, known for the drama Eve and the film The Curious Candy Store Zenzenten, helms the project.
From web drama to prime-time lead
Miyeon's acting career started in 2021 with the web drama Replay: The Moment It Starts Again. She followed that with appearances in Delivery and Adult Trainee. This Royal Camp role is her first confirmed lead in a major production.
On the music side, she released solo mini-album MY in 2022 and MY, Lover in 2025. Minnie took on the Thai film 50 First Kisses. Shuhua attended the 31st Busan International Film Festival with the Taiwanese film Happily Ever After.
