Secret's Jeon Hyo-sung marks 17-year debut anniversary, promises long-term activities and solo album

17 years in, and she's just getting started

Jeon Hyo-sung (전효성, 36) hit her 17th debut anniversary on October 13. Same day as her birthday. She spent it with fans at a signing event in Youngtong, where she received what she called her first-ever birthday café.

Secret's official Instagram posted a "17TH ANNIVERSARY" video that day featuring Hyo-sung, Jung Ha-na (정하나), and new member Ye-bin (예빈). Hyo-sung and Ha-na spoke directly to their fanclub Secret Time: "We've already reached our 17th debut anniversary. It's like we're in our first year of high school. Thank you to Secret Time for supporting us as we've been completed as the new Secret." Ye-bin said she hopes the group "can create new and beautiful memories going forward."

At the fan signing, Hyo-sung didn't hold back about what the day meant.

"I will continue activities for a long time. Like we promised, let's hold hands for a long time and grow old together."

The birthday café still felt "like a dream" to her.

From four members to a rebuilt lineup

Secret debuted in 2009 through Mnet's Secret Story as a four-member group: Jeon Hyo-sung, Jung Ha-na, Song Ji-eun (송지은), and Han Sun-hwa (한선화). They hit with Shy Boy, Magic, Madonna, Starlight Moonlight, and Love is MOVE. Han Sun-hwa left in 2016. Song Ji-eun followed in 2018 (she married YouTuber Park Wi in October 2024 and now works as MC for CBS TV's Renew Yourself).

The group resumed activities in June after recruiting Ye-bin, born in 2002, as a new member. That same month they released the special mini-album Secret Flavor—their first comeback under the Secret name in approximately 12 years. The title track is Ice Cream (아이스크림). The album includes 2026 reinterpretations of past hits Madonna, Shy Boy, and Starlight Moonlight.

What's next for Hyo-sung

A winter remake album is coming. So is a solo full album targeting the first half of 2026. No release dates confirmed yet.
