May in Seongsu: three pop-ups worth the trip (Pokémon, potato bread, Moody)

Mina Park·7/18/2026, 6:00:55 PM

If you're planning a Seoul trip in May and you're clustered in Seongsu anyway, these three pop-ups are running simultaneously — all within walking distance of each other, all worth a morning or afternoon block.

Pokémon 30th Anniversary Party — OliveYoung N Seongsu

Pokémon is turning 30, and OliveYoung is hosting a full-scale pop-up celebrating it. The flagship experience is the 30th Anniversary Party pop-up (running through May 31, 2026), but even if you skip the main event due to wait times, the entire OliveYoung N Seongsu location is dressed as a Pokémon concept store for the month. The brand has released 200 collaborative products across multiple beauty and lifestyle categories — think Ditto-themed color-correcting makeup, character-designed pouches, sleep masks, and hair clips. Each brand partner includes limited-edition packaging plus in-store gifts with purchase. Photo zones throughout the store feature Metamon (Ditto) installations. The blogger visited at 10am on a weekday and already saw substantial wait-list lines, so go early if you want to enter the main party pop-up; browsing the concept store itself is walk-in only. OliveYoung is also running the same Pokémon concept store across five other Korean cities (Hongdae, Myeongdong, Wonju, Daegu) through May, so if you're not in Seoul, check your nearest location.

Chuncheon Gamja-Bat (Potato Bread) Market — Prika Seongsu

Chuncheon Gamja-Bat, a beloved Korean potato-bread brand, is collaborating with Prika for a pop-up running through May 10, 2026. This is a smaller, more intimate space than the Pokémon event, but the draw is immediate: you can buy fresh potato bread on-site, plus exclusive merchandise. The standout is the agricultural-concept keychain line — the zucchini keychain is so realistic it's almost unsettling, and they're genuinely cute. Every hour (from 30 minutes past the hour until the top of the hour), visitors can play a potato-pulling game with tiered prizes: first place wins a set of Dubai chewy potato bread, second place gets potato bread, third gets a discount coupon (valid on merch only, not bread), and fourth gets a sticker. The popup also sells curated bread sets and individual loaves — the classic potato bread has a chewy crust and fluffy, slightly grainy filling that's dangerously addictive. If you're a snack person or you want a lighter pop-up experience with actual edible goods, this one is worth the 10-minute detour from the Pokémon store.

Moody Angel Hug Delivery Pop-Up

Moody, the Korean beauty brand known for mascaras and brow products, is launching their new Angel Hug Glaze Lip exclusively at this Seongsu pop-up (through May 11, 2026). The lip gloss comes in 10 shades with a luminous finish and strong color payoff. Buy the full size and you get a mini version free. The space includes a ring-toss game (you register for a turn as you enter, so no stress), and purchases over 50,000 won qualify for a scoop event (the blogger didn't specify the prize, but it's an added incentive). The blogger noted that Moody's pop-up team was thoughtful about flow and comfort — separate walk-in and pre-registration wait lines, and pre-registration visitors only need to show up by 7pm. If you're into Korean beauty and want to see Moody's full range (mascaras, brow mascaras, eye palettes) in person before committing, this pop-up is a good testing ground.

Logistics for Your Day

All three pop-ups are in Seongsu, Seoul, clustered within a few blocks of each other. The Pokémon pop-up draws the biggest crowds and has the longest waits — arrive before 10am if you want a reasonable queue time. The potato bread and Moody pop-ups are less crowded and feel more leisurely. You could realistically hit all three in a single morning or early afternoon without stress. Seongsu is on the Seoul Metro Line 2 (Seongsu Station); the neighborhood is already a shopping and café hub, so even if pop-up fatigue sets in, there's plenty to explore nearby.
