National Geographic x Korean Heritage Pop-Up: Three Seoul Locations This Summer

Aiko Tanaka·7/20/2026, 5:00:48 PM

National Geographic just dropped its first-ever collaboration with Korea's Cultural Heritage Administration—and it's genuinely worth planning around if you're in Seoul this summer. The brand reimagined three major Korean cultural symbols (Hangul, folk paintings, and mother-of-pearl inlay work) into a modern apparel and kids' collection that feels neither gimmicky nor oversaturated. This isn't a typical fashion pop-up; it's a cultural moment disguised as shopping.

The pop-up hits three major Seoul department stores across the summer, so you can cluster it into a broader itinerary:

더현대 서울 (The Hyundai Seoul) — Yeouido
July 16–22, 2026
Nearest subway: Yeouido Station (excellent line access, easy walk from the station). The Hyundai is a flagship location with a kids' play area inside, so you can browse the collection, grab lunch in the food hall, and let younger travelers burn energy without leaving the building.

신세계 센텀시티 (Shinsegae Centum City) — Busan
July 23–30, 2026
If you're extending your trip to Busan, the pop-up moves here for a week. Centum City is one of the world's largest department stores—easy to spend an afternoon.

롯데월드몰 (Lotte World Mall) — Jamsil
August 6–12, 2026
Nearest subway: Jamsil Station (Exit 4, directly in front of the mall). This location is the strongest for a day trip because Lotte World Adventure theme park is attached—you can hit the pop-up in the morning, then move to the amusement park or the nearby Lotte World Aquarium. The mall itself has restaurants and a full retail experience.

What You'll Actually Find

The kids' collection is extensive: t-shirts, dresses, pajama sets, and outerwear all feature the heritage motifs. A few standouts:

Some items are limited quantity, so if something catches your eye, don't hesitate—the blogger notes that earlier shoppers will have the widest selection.

Practical Notes

Walk-in only; no reservation required. The pop-up is inside major department stores, so standard mall hours apply (check individual store hours on arrival). Parking is available at all three locations. If you miss the pop-up, the full collection is available at National Geographic's official online store and nationwide retailers, but limited-edition items sell out faster in-store.

Best timing: early morning or weekday afternoons to avoid crowds. If you're traveling with kids, the Yeouido location's on-site play area and the Jamsil location's theme-park proximity make those two the easiest logistically.
