Park Hae-joon joins 'Nambeol' as Tsushima pirate lord opposite Lee Byung-hun

Park Hae-joon is in. The actor has been confirmed for Nambeol (남벌), a hard-boiled martial arts action film set in early Joseon, with the news announced on July 28.

He plays Miyoshi, the leader of a Japanese pirate group based on Tsushima. Cold-blooded. Someone willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He faces off against Lee Byung-hun's Im Eok, who commands the nine warriors driving the story forward. Those nine warriors—each with different abilities and social ranks—sail to Tsushima to rescue prisoners taken by Japanese pirates. Ko Yoon-jung, Lee Do-hyun, and Uz (Jo Seung-yeon) round out the cast.

Nambeol marks the feature directorial debut of cinematographer Lee Mo-gae. His camera work includes Seoul Spring, Exhuma, Hunt, Yahdang, and Emergency Declaration. He's won the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards Film Division Art Award, the 43rd and 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards Cinematography & Lighting Award, and the 31st and 29th Blue Dragon Film Awards Cinematography Award.

Hive Media Corp produces. The company made Seoul Spring, Harbin, Deliver Us from Evil, The Man Standing Next, Inside Men, and the Disney+ original series Made in Korea.

Park Hae-joon recently appeared in Seoul Spring, Yahdang, Humint, Drug King, and Netflix's 폭싹 속았수다. The film is in pre-production, with principal photography set to begin in the second half of 2026.
