4th Mungyeong Trot Song Festival set for Sept. 5 with 30M-won grand prize
Ten teams compete for 30 million won at Mungyeong's trot festival on September 5, with Park Seo-jin and Kim Hee-jae headlining the congratulatory stages.
The 4th Mungyeong Trot Song Festival takes place September 5 at 6:30 PM at Yeonggang Sports Park in Mungyeong City.
Ten teams selected through preliminaries will compete across five categories: grand prize, gold, silver, popularity award, and encouragement award. The grand prize is 30 million won—10 million of it paid in Mungyeong Love Gift Certificates instead of cash. Roughly 40% of all prize money across every category comes as local gift certificates. The city is clearly trying to keep the winnings circulating locally.
Mungyeong city promotional ambassadors Park Seo-jin and Kim Hee-jae will perform congratulatory stages. A prize event worth approximately 3 million won runs at the venue. Fireworks close the evening.
A city official described the event as featuring "diverse programs including high-level competitions, congratulatory performances by popular singers, prize events, and fireworks performances." Paying part of the prize money in gift certificates, the official added, helps "revitalize local commerce" while entertaining residents.
