Divorced ex-pitcher Shim Soo-chang makes his move on actress Kim Min-ji on TV Chosun's matchmaking show

Shim Soo-chang pitched professionally for years. Now he's the only divorced contestant on TV Chosun's marriage-focused variety show 조선의 사랑꾼, and in the August 3 episode airing at 10 PM, he's going after actress Kim Min-ji.

The episode shows the final matching scene for 육캔두잇, a six-person subgroup serious about marriage. Both Shim and comedian Hong Kyung-jun picked Kim Min-ji. Shim had already broken the ice with her during a game of catch. "Now I will go directly convey my feelings," he said before the final match.

Hong wasn't backing down. "I will try again without hesitation," he said.

Yang Sang-guk faced his own mess. He'd gone on two dates with Kim Min-ji while also dating Lee Yu-bin, the woman he'd ranked first on first impressions. "The person I gave a postcard to at first and the person I will give it to now are different," he said, laughing awkwardly. His feelings kept shifting, but he insisted his sincerity was genuine at the moment of writing. Shim Jae-won had lunch dates with interior designer Lee Go-eun and model Jeon So-hyun, then joined an evening date with Lee Yu-bin. Yoo Il-han wrote on his postcard asking his chosen person to meet him at Gyeongju Station.

Shim Soo-chang joined LG Twins in 2004 and later played for Nexen Heroes, Lotte Giants, and Hanwha Eagles before retiring in 2019. He worked as a baseball commentator and broadcaster. He married a non-celebrity businessman in December 2018 and divorced in 2025. (The show is leaning hard on that backstory.)
