Hyorisoo's debut single 'Skibidi' hit No. 1 on YouTube Korea's trending music chart within days of its August 31 release.
'Skibidi' goes straight to the top
Hyorisoo — Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung from Girls' Generation — released Skibidi on August 31. The song shot to No. 1 on YouTube's trending music chart for Korea. The performance video did the same on YouTube Korea's daily popular music video chart. The track landed on domestic major music charts across real-time and daily rankings.
The unit started on Hyoyeon's personal YouTube channel, Hyo's Level Up. What began as a DIY project went wide.
Four seconds, six seconds, six seconds
The numbers in their name carry weight. During Girls' Generation's run — the nine-member group debuted in 2007 — Hyoyeon's cumulative "one-shot" camera time across performances was 4 seconds. Yuri and Sooyoung each got 6 seconds. A "one-shot" is a solo close-up cut, the standard measure of screen time in K-pop broadcast performances.
All three have been direct about it. Hyoyeon: "I've been doing that for over 10 years, so that position doesn't seem to be my place. Somehow my place seems to be next to it and it feels bitter."
She also said: "Instead of having a part, I danced in that section. I'm a singer. I wanted to at least open my mouth."
Sooyoung did the math herself: "I already had only one line of part, and I shared it with Hyoyeon. You need many parts to get a one-shot. I didn't get a single one-shot. It was so frustrating." Her mother didn't even know she'd been on stage. That's why she started turning her head to catch the camera.
Yuri saw it as unfinished: "There are many members, so there's a lot of regret. We need to release it here in Hyorisoo."
What the chart numbers say
Skibidi sits at No. 1 on YouTube Korea's trending music chart. The performance video matches that on the daily chart. The domestic chart entries on real-time and daily rankings add streaming traction to the YouTube numbers. Hyorisoo's opening week spans multiple platforms.
