UNIS tops K탑스타 Best Rookie for 3rd straight week, drops remake single Sept. 8

UNIS claimed their third straight week at No. 1 in K탑스타's Best Rookie (Female) category. They're dropping a remake of a 1997 hit on September 8.

Three weeks running at No. 1

UNIS topped K탑스타 (KTOPSTAR) Best Rookie (Female) for the 113th week, covering August 31 to September 6. Third consecutive week at the top. KIRAS came in second.

The eight-member group—Jin Hyeonju, Nana, Jelly Dangka, Kotoko, Bang Yunha, Alycia, Oh Yuna, and Lim Seowon—are coming back September 8 with a remake single. 하늘땅 별땅 ("Sky Land Star Land") drops at noon across online music platforms.

Their first remake, sourced from 1997

The track remakes a mega-hit by female duo BIBI (비비), originally released in 1997. A song nearly 30 years old that's never left the public ear. UNIS's first remake since debut.

Their approach: preserve the original's addictive hook and brightness, then add what they call the eight members' kitsch high-teen charm and a trendy K-pop sound.

The comeback follows a busy summer. UNIS released their first Japanese mini-album UNI☆Sparkle! in July, which debuted at No. 4 on the Oricon Daily Album Chart and No. 15 on the Billboard Japan Top Album Sales Chart. Two chart entries from one debut album reads well for a group still in rookie territory.

Also in the 113th week

Virtual idol group PLAVE held Best Idol (Male) at No. 1 for a 15th consecutive week. BTS placed second, ASTRO third.

PLAVE released the digital single Flame (feat. milet) on September 3—a rock track evoking blue flames, with Japanese singer-songwriter milet on vocals and lyrics. The group opens their first world tour, 2026 PLAVE WORLD TOUR 'KEEP IT MANIC', at Incheon Munhak Stadium's main stadium on September 12 and 13.
