Director Park Chan-hong is under scrutiny over his "foster daughter" relationship with actress Yoon So-hee and allegations of discriminatory treatment toward his daughter-in-law Song Ji-eun. Now a second actress's account of him is drawing renewed attention.
A 2022 video from YouTuber Park Wi's channel Wiracl — titled "The reason she is working as a dishwasher at a meat restaurant and as a housekeeper" — has resurfaced. Actress Choi Gang-hee appears as a guest, recounting the moment Park Chan-hong showed up unannounced at her home after her father died.
"Usually people say 'it's okay, he must have gone to a good place,'" she said, "but he suddenly told me, 'From now on, I am your father. Call me dad.' Those words were truly an indescribable great emotion."
Choi was 19. Park Chan-hong was in his 30s. The age gap is part of why the dynamic is drawing fresh attention now.
A director who collects 'daughters'
Park Chan-hong cast Choi as the lead in KBS's New Generation Report, Adults Don't Know, marking the start of her acting career. Yoon So-hee's connection to the director came later through the 2016 tvN drama Memory.
Choi also shared that she later discovered actress Park Jin-hee calls the director "dad" as well. "It turned out he was truly 'everyone's father,'" she said. "It was like he was some kind of director."
Park Wi, who is married to Song Ji-eun and runs Wiracl, laughed during the resurfaced clip: "Since Sohee is like that, it feels like I'm coming to my dad's daughter's house." A September 2024 video from his channel titled First Chuseok at In-laws' House has also been circulating alongside the renewed scrutiny.
Park Wi has not issued any official statement and has remained silent on the ongoing allegations.
