'남자다' lands Kim Su-chan an October champion nomination
Kim Su-chan, 31, is nominated as an October champion candidate on 트롯챔피언 (Trot Champion) with 남자다 (Be a Man). The nod arrives after he wrapped a grueling stretch of regional performances: Chuncheon, Uljin, Asan, Sancheong, Gwangju Songjeong Station, Incheon, Seongnam, and the Gangnam Living Culture Festival. Many happened in the rain.
Following an outdoor concert in Sancheong in wet weather, Kim posted to SNS: "Thank you to all the residents of Sancheong-gun and Chani-sarang fans who stayed until the end even on a rainy day. I will go home and wash with warm water. Tomorrow, please don't overdo it. I will do the overwork."
He also appeared on MBN's 전국스타탄생-양재편 (National Star Birth - Yangje Edition), thanking Yangje citizens and his fan club 차니사랑 (Chani Love). One message stood out: "Hoeryongpo Kang Min-ju noona, who has consistently shown me love from then until now."
A discography built across 14 years
Kim debuted in 2012 with 오디션 (Audition). Since then:

- 2015: 딱 보면 알아요, 대구 아가씨
- 2016: 평행선
- 2019: 사랑의 해결사
- 2020: mini album 수찬노래방, title track 엉덩이
He placed 10th on TV Chosun's 내일은 미스터트롯 in 2020. He won the excellence award on KBS 전국노래자랑's Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do edition. In 2013 he appeared as a Nam Jin impersonator on 히든싱어2 and has been a recurring presence on KBS1 가요무대 since that same year.
TV work and what's ahead in 2026
After his discharge from social service duty in early 2023, Kim joined KBS2 살림하는 남자들 as a fixed cast member. He hosted KBS1 아침마당's Friday corner 행복한 금요일 쌍쌍파티 from 2023 through 2025. In 2025 he joined 샅바전쟁 17대1, and in 2026 appeared on episodes 1 through 4 of 가왕쇼.
He continues performing at festivals and concerts through 2026 (including the Seongnam Bongguksa Filial Piety Culture Festival and Gangnam Living Culture Festival) and meeting audiences via 가요무대 and other music variety programs. During the Yangje-area shows he wore a black suit for indoor sets and switched to a brown jacket for outdoor stages, performing alongside dancers in the rain.
