LIGHTSUM's Japan chart climb: new and old tracks both rising after 'Re' debut
LIGHTSUM's Japanese debut sent three older Korean tracks back onto Japan's YouTube Music chart on Oct. 13, joining the title track 'Doshite' at No. 28.

Four tracks charting at once
LIGHTSUM dropped their Japanese debut mini-album Re on September 23. By October 13, the catalog was already moving. Three Korean-era tracks hit YouTube Music's daily popular music video chart in Japan: POSE! (2024) at No. 86, ALIVE (2022) at No. 87, and Honey or Spice (2023) at No. 89. The Japanese debut title track どうして (Doshite) landed at No. 28 that same day. Four LIGHTSUM entries in one daily snapshot.
Four years of releases charting at once. That's what a successful album rollout looks like—it doesn't just spike at launch, it pulls the whole catalog into a new market's awareness.
How the Japan push is structured
The group's been everywhere since Re hit. They performed at SBI MUSIC CIRCUS HOKKAIDO 2026, a major music festival, and held release events in Sapporo, Tokyo, and Osaka. Every Monday they're on FM Osaka's LIGHTSUM's Re program. The official YouTube channel has been posting Japanese-language learning content under the title 성수동 1타 강사 이희라 (Seongsu-dong's Top Tutor, Hira Lee).
What to watch
The catalog chart activity is what matters next. ALIVE and Honey or Spice both dropped before LIGHTSUM had any formal Japan presence. If they're still charting three weeks into the debut push, the fanbase is actually growing—not just spiking at release. The FM Osaka weekly slot is the real play here. Most K-pop Japan rollouts don't bother with recurring radio touchpoints like this.
