PLAVE's 5th mini album 'HYPERDRIVE' drops Dec. 12 with 5-track lineup spanning bossa nova to EDM
PLAVE's new mini album drops Dec. 12 with a highlight medley showing five tracks that jump from bossa nova to EDM to a Kenji-produced ballad.
Five tracks, zero genre comfort zone
PLAVE's 5th mini album HYPERDRIVE releases December 12, with the physical edition following a day later on December 13. The group dropped a highlight medley on their official YouTube channel on December 8 — four days after the tracklist image went up on official SNS on December 6.
The five-track lineup covers a lot of ground. 꾼 opens on a soft bossa nova rhythm with a languid, dreamy atmosphere. 푸른 하늘에 단비 pairs acoustic guitar with the members' understated vocals for a clear, warm feel. Two ballad-adjacent cuts before the album even gets to the title track.
'Star Trace' and the world tour connection
Title track Star Trace is the pivot: EDM sound over a heavy beat. This isn't the song's first outing. PLAVE pre-released it through the encore stage of their world tour KEEP IT MANIC, held at Incheon Munhak Stadium in September. (Fans who caught that encore already know what's coming.)
Track four, The Answer Is Yes, brings refreshing vocals and bright energy. Rewind closes the album—produced by Kenji and his composition team KZLAB, described as refreshing yet romantic.
The full track list:
- Track 1: 꾼 — bossa nova, languid and dreamy
- Track 2: 푸른 하늘에 단비 — acoustic guitar, warm and clear
