RIIZE drops acoustic single 'Insomnia' three years into their run as four-time million-sellers
RIIZE dropped 'Insomnia' on Oct. 26—an acoustic pop single with an MV scripted by novelist Cheon Seon-ran.
RIIZE released the digital single Insomnia (인섬니아) at midnight on October 26, marking their first release since the second mini-album title track Do Your Dance drove them to a fourth consecutive million-seller earlier this year.
Quiet sound, serious collaborators
Insomnia is an acoustic pop track built around a still, melancholic atmosphere and the six members' restrained yet plaintive vocals. A deliberate shift from the group's recent output. Hit lyricist Kim Yi-na (김이나) wrote the lyrics. The music video script comes from Cheon Seon-ran (천선란), one of Korea's most prominent literary fiction writers, with illustrator Nomi (노미) handling the visual work.
The MV follows people who cannot sleep in a dramatized, cinematic format. All six members—Shotaro (쇼타로), Eunseok (은석), Sungchan (성찬), Wonbin (원빈), Anton (앤톤), and main vocalist Sohee (소희)—contributed emotional acting. Shotaro cut his hair short and tried special makeup for the first time for the shoot.
Eunseok framed the song simply: "Having someone who gives you strength and comfort just by thinking of them — isn't that something truly special?" Wonbin added that he hopes it becomes "a song where everyone can fully feel their own emotions."
Three years in, the stakes are real
RIIZE debuted in 2023 and recently marked their third anniversary. The Do Your Dance campaign, off their second mini-album released in June, locked in their fourth career million-seller—four in a row since debut.
Anton said he hopes Insomnia has staying power: "Even after much time passes, I hope listening to 'Insomnia' naturally brings back moments and memories from 2026."
November stage incoming
Next up: the 3rd Korea Grand Music Awards (2026 KGMA) on November 7 and 8. RIIZE performs on the second day and is preparing a special dance break version of Do Your Dance for the occasion.
