MONSTA X's Kihyun drops English version of 'So Good' 17 days after BORDERLINE release

Kihyun dropped the English version of So Good on July 24, seventeen days after his second mini album BORDERLINE arrived on the 7th.

The original So Good is a rock-based track built around escalating guitar sound and Kihyun's vocals, with high notes as its signature. The English version keeps that melody intact but pairs it with lyrics that carry the opposite meaning to the Korean original. Same song, different emotional direction. He performed the track on music broadcasts for two weeks before releasing this alternate take.

"It's the same melody but filled with contrasting lyrics," he said, "so I think you will be able to feel a different atmosphere and charm."

BORDERLINE hit #21 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and #1 on the iTunes Top 100 K-pop Album Chart in five countries (Australia, Finland, Netherlands, and two others). It landed at #3 in the United States and cracked the top 5 in 12 countries including Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, and Mexico. Forbes covered the album shortly after release, noting Kihyun's range across alternative rock, pop rock, R&B, and modern band sound. The piece called out his belting, falsetto, and low-note capabilities specifically. (Forbes breaking down a K-pop idol's vocal register in a business magazine is a sentence I did not expect to type in 2026, but here we are.)

MONSTA X is currently running the 2026 MONSTA X WORLD TOUR [THE X : NEXUS], with a North America leg scheduled for October. The English version of So Good is available now on online music sites worldwide.
