MONSTA X's Ki Hyun stopped by KBS Kpop's 'Limousine Service' to perform five covers and talk about juggling a solo album release with the group's new mini album.

MONSTA X's Ki Hyun sat down for KBS Kpop's YouTube web entertainment show Limousine Service, arriving fresh off the group's mini album The Phase (더 페이즈), which dropped on the 4th. He performed the album's track Sweet Night, Sweet Morning (스윗 나잇, 스윗 모닝) on the show. "I wanted to show sides of myself that I haven't shown much until now," he explained.
The covers spanned a range of artists. Ki Hyun opened with D.O.'s Popcorn, then tackled Han Ro-ro's Ipchun (입춘). He brought Lee Mu-jin in for a duet on Jon Park's Your Thoughts (네 생각), closed with Lim Young-woong's My Love Like Starlight (별빛 같은 나의 사랑아), and rounded out the set with his solo track Howling (하울링).
Ki Hyun didn't hold back about the schedule. "It was very busy," he said. "Actually, I thought it would become more relaxed at this age and career stage." The pressure came from splitting focus. "While doing tours, I prepared both a solo album and MONSTA X album together."
Running a world tour, a solo record, and a group comeback in the same window is the kind of schedule that makes even the most dedicated stan wince.
MONSTA X has wrapped promotions for The Phase. The world tour THE X : NEXUS (더 엑스 : 넥서스) hits 10 North American cities in October. Two encore concerts follow at Incheon Inspire Arena on November 21 and 22.
When asked where he sees himself in a decade, Ki Hyun's answer was straightforward. "I want to say MONSTA X," he said. "I hope our songs, which are very hard, will be well prepared and we continue doing this until then."
